43x11 is an analog display that shows black or white dots on a board. It is programmed to alternate between different graphics, and a rectangular QR code that can actually be scanned (shown above) at fixed intervals.
The ubiquitous QR code is the culmination of clever technical design and innovation, resulting in a highly compact form that can transmit complex information easily. This installation celebrates how technology has changed the way human beings transmit information and communicate on a fundamental level.
A collaboration between the creators of the QR code—Denso Wave—and Singapore-based creative technologist Siah Tiong Hong, this work invites audiences to ponder "mundane" technology and the feats of engineering and design embedded in modern everyday life.
A free mobile app is needed to scan the rectangular micro QR shown on the display.
